These facilities attract a number of large scale tournaments and sporting events to Ajax throughout the year. Significant past tournaments include the Ontario Lacrosse Festival, the 1st Annual Mayor's Cricket Festival, and numerous annual hockey, ringette, soccer and baseball tournaments organized by our local clubs. Baseball in Ajax dates back to the early 1950's and athletes from near and far continue visit Ajax for baseball tournaments and specialized training. With more than 20 regularly maintained baseball diamonds, including the highly regarded 'Type A' Cloverleaf at the Ajax Sportsplex (5 diamonds in one location), Ajax frequently host practices, tournaments and social games. Ajax is also home to professional training facilities such as Home Run Baseball Academy and Competitive Edge Indoor Training Facility that provide programs and clinics to improve your skills.

Throughout the Town, outdoor public basketball courts are available for recreational use. Gymnasiums at the Ajax Community Centre and McLean Community Centre also provide an opportunity to get involved in organized games. Learn more.

Fields (Soccer, Cricket, Lacrosse)

Ajax is home to an abundance of fields for sports such as soccer, cricket and lacrosse. These fields vary in size and type, and many are lit for evening play.

Ajax fields were home to significant tournaments including the Ontario Lacrosse Festival and 1st Annual Mayors Cricket Festival in 2011!

Parks & Playgrounds

The Town of Ajax's parks system, encompassing 600 hectares and 74 kilometres of pathways, is open year-round for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. There are two leash-free parks in Ajax - one at the Greenwood Conservation Centre, and the other on the west side of Westney Road South, north of Clements Road. (link to Parks page)

Pools & Splash pads

Two 25-meter indoor pools, one newly re-constructed outdoor pool and six community splash pads exist in Ajax to fulfill your aquatic needs. Whether you're looking for a swim meet venue or just a place to cool off on a hot day, you'll find what you need in Ajax.

The Ajax Community Centre and McLean Community Centre are Ajax's two Recreation Centres, that act as gathering places for the community, and hubs for activity.

Rock Climbing

The Ajax Rock Oasis has been Durham Region's only full service climbing facility since 2004. Located within the Ajax Community Centre, 25ft walls host 40 climbs, and 30 boulder problems of a variety of difficulties to accommodate all skill levels.

Skate Parks

image of teen boy on skateboardAjax has two skateboard parks located at the Ajax and McLean Community Centres. Each park offers a mix of semi-permanent modular ramps and rails placed on a concrete base. The parks are open during daylight hours, weather permitting.

Tennis & Squash

Ajax is home to 4 public tennis courts and 5 international squash courts to cater to racquet sport enthusiasts.

Ice Rinks (Skating, Hockey, Ringette)
