Bicycle Friendly Community
A municipality's transportation network is an important part of the livability of a community. The Town of Ajax's progressive transportation program is creating a safe, integrated multi modal system, including walking, cycling and the use of public transit. The Town is proud to be one of the first Bicycle Friendly Communities in Ontario. As a leader and proponent of a strong, diverse transportation system, the Town recognized early on the importance of on and off road connections to make cycling an accessible and safe option for getting around town. Significant investments are being made to expand Ajax's 120 km cycling network of trails, dedicated bike lanes, and shared use lanes.
To better serve cyclists, the Town has installed bike shelters at municipal facilities and signage throughout the Town. Across Ajax, a growing number of cyclist friendly businesses are offering extra services and amenities for those travelling by bike. Just look for the Welcome Cyclists symbol in the windows of local establishments.
With a safe and integrated trail network connecting to transit and rail hubs, cycling amenities and support from local businesses, there has never been a better time to experience cycling in Ajax!
